Pepperdine has partnered with TimelyMD to offer students free access to medical support through the TimelyCare platform. Your Patient Portal makes it easy to manage your health, access care, and view your immunization records. If you think you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital .

What is SHC clinic?

The SHC also offers specialized clinics such as flu vaccination, travel medicine, massage therapy, and STI/HIV testing. If deemed appropriate, physicians may provide a referral to a specialist or determine if a higher level of care is required. Providers prescribe medications in alignment with their treatment plans.

What do you need to know before you go to Pepperdine University?

Before entering Pepperdine University, all Seaver undergraduate students must complete their health history form and enter the dates of and document the required vaccinations in their patient portal. Please note that all medical records must be in English.

Does SHC charge insurance?

Labs, prescriptions, and specialty services are additional charges; however, the SHC strives to keep fees as low as possible. Although the SHC does not bill insurance directly, it provides a walkout statement (superbill) to patients as well as directions regarding how to seek reimbursement from their insurance plan.

Does the SHC have a dispensary?

Providers prescribe medications in alignment with their treatment plans. The SHC features an in-house dispensary, providing access to common medications. A written prescription will be provided for any medication not available at the SHC. Conveniently, there are multiple pharmacies in the local community.

How to make an appointment with a student health insurance?

Appointments can be made by logging into the Patient Portal. If you have the university Student Health Insurance Plan, you have access to a 24/7 nurse line and telehealth appointments by calling 800-581-0368 . Virtual Health appointments are available to policyholders at no cost.

What is SHC in medical school?

The Student Health Center (SHC) provides primary and preventative care to currently enrolled students who have paid the medical services fee along with their tuition.

How old do you have to be to get a medical consent form?

Students under the age of 18 must have a signed and notarized Consent for Treatment Form on file with the center in order to receive medical services.

How long after Moderna booster dose?

The Moderna vaccine is an mRNA vaccine and requires a booster dose 28 days after the initial dose. Full immunity is reached 2 weeks after the second dose. Moderna is approved for those 18 years and older. The Student Health Center strongly encourages and recommends this vaccination. Fully vaccinated people are currently not required to quarantine after exposure. COVID vaccines are FREE and there is no charge for administration. You may call our office now at 801-581-6431 to schedule an appointment for the vaccine or if you have any questions regarding the vaccine. Vaccine appointments are limited, so contact us now if interested.

What time does the Student Health Center open?

The Student Health Center has consolidated clinical staffing to Monday- Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm. Tuesday evening extended hours during fall and spring semesters are 7:30am - 7:30pm. We will be accepting appointments for asymptomatic patients who need immunizations, titers, labs and QuantiFERON-TB Gold blood tests. We are not accepting walk-ins at the present time. We encourange you to use virtual visit options when we are closed or if you have cold or flu symptoms.

What is Tele Doc?

Tele Doc - a free service for students on the Student Health Insurance Plan (United Healthcare Student Resources) and just $40 for students not on the insurance.

Which hospital carries Moderna?

The Student Health Center carries the Moderna COVID vaccine.

Does ASUU have health insurance?

The University of Utah and ASUU strongly encourage all students to have health insurance and offer the Student Health Insurance plan through United Healthcare Student Resources. The plan covers routine medical care, specialty care, urgent care, and emergency care. Learn more about the Student Health Insurance plan and eligibility requrements.

Does Zoom cover virtual visits?

The Student Health Center is now offering virtual visits for students! Visits are during our normal operating hours, using Zoom for Healthcare. (Not all insurances cover virtual visits with Student Health-please check with your individual insurance plan or with the receptionist when scheduling.)

Who is eligible for care at the University of Utah?

All University of Utah students, their spouses, and dependents are eligible for care at the Student Health Center.

What is the phone number for a telehealth appointment?

If you do not see the reason for your visit on the patient portal, please call our office at 450-3136 so we can determine the best plan for your appointment. Some visits can be addressed over the phone (telehealth) while others may require you to come to the clinic for further evaluation.

Our Physician is a Board-certified physician in Family Practice and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
