When to call Amherst Medical Associates for respiratory problems?

Per the NYSDOH and the CDC, DO NOT VISIT BUT PLEASE CALL Amherst Medical Associates if you have respiratory symptoms including fever, shortness of breath, cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Your physician will direct you on your care.

What is preventive health exam?

A preventive health exam is an Annual Physical during which your primary care provider will: Under the Affordable Care Act, commercial health plans are required to cover an annual Preventive Health Exam at no cost to the patient (no co-payment, co-insurance or deductible).

What is a sick visit?

During your visit, your provider may need to treat a new medical issue or a chronic problem that has changed. If that occurs, this part of the visit is called a Sick Visit and may result in additional services being billed to your insurance.

Does a medical insurance plan have to cover preventive health exams?

Does Medicare cover physical exam?

A message sent through the Patient Portal is more secure than email.

Is the Patient Portal open during business hours?

The Patient Portal is monitored during Health Center business hours only. Every effort is made to answer messages by the following business day. You should not expect to receive a response to a Patient Portal message on weekends, holidays, or any other time the Health Center is closed. If you need immediate medical advice when the Health Center is closed, call our main number (413-542-2267) and follow the prompts to speak with an advice nurse. If you need urgent medical care, please call Campus Police at 413-542-2111.
